Description:

The IT Release Manager position has responsibility for the successful deployment of releases, ongoing patch releases and maintenance updates to production systems that service our business operations at Salesforce.com. This position manages the integration of moving parts of complex releases to ensure seamless execution, on-time delivery of high quality releases, and transparency and visibility throughout the process. This person should be a project manager with enough functional experience to understand the components of the release and how their technical complexity will affect the release schedule and risks.

This position will work in and with the Appstore Program team to manage comprehensive deployment activities including environment plans, pre-deployment dry-runs, deployment execution and contingency back-out plans and procedures. The AppStore Program is a team of program, product, technical, quality and business members chartered with delivering new and enhanced features and functionality for the following business process areas of Salesforce.com: Opportunity to Quote, Order to Cash, and customer Checkout.

Key Responsibilities:


• Manages releases by partnering with Program Management, IT Scrum Teams, IT Support teams, R&D Release Teams, the Operations Service Center (OSC) and Business Leads.
• Works closely with Program Management in planning, managing and deploying releases to the production environment.
• Works with technical teams to create the detailed, step-by-step deployment task list (runlist).
• Determines the readiness of each release based on release criteria including management of the approvals process.
• Manages execution of the deployment plan during production deployment, including fielding of deployment issues, escalations and contingencies, acting as the primary POC throughout the deployment execution.
• Represents & reports the release status at the SoS.
• Owns release-related milestone communication and maintains schedules, release landing pages (Google sites), and calendar entries.
• Coordinates and improves upon the Translations process and schedule, across vendor managers, business leads and business regions
• Continuously improves the release processes, communication and delivery of releases, including best practices supporting an agile development approach.
• Manages internal communication regarding release status and when the release/feature has been successfully deployed into production

Must Have:

• Minimum 4-7 years experience in a software development or IT implementations environment
• Outstanding organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to drive issues to closure; strong leadership capabilities.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Flexible, able to learn quickly in a dynamic environment
• Ability to work independently and to be an effective contributor in a diversified team.
• Must work well within a deadline-driven environment.
• Great team player with a passion for new technologies and creative solutions
• Education: Bachelors Degree or Equivalent
• Experience in an on-demand environment, with agile development and 24x7 operations a plus.
• Experience with Multi-Tiered System Operations, including Web, Application and Database Operational Support & Services a plus.
